Hello players!

Upcoming friday tickets will go on sale for our next Dutch Open Series weekend!
We are looking forward to a weekend full of Magic on the 26th and 27th of August.

We have a couple of announcements for the upcoming edition:

Player capacity

The previous edition of the Dutch Open Series sold out almost instantly. For the upcoming edition we have increased our maximum capacity. We would still recommend to mark down June 30th – 20:00 hours!

Events

We are hosting 4 events during the upcoming Dutch Open Series weekend:
August 26 – 10:00 start – Modern (226 player capacity)
August 26 – 10:30 start – Lord of the Rings Sealed Deck (64 player capacity)

August 27 – 10:00 start – Legacy
August 27 – 10:30 start – Pioneer

Regional Championship Qualifier

Unfortunately, due to qualifier season planning, we are NOT able to provide you with any slots for the Regional Championship for this edition of the DOS. We hope you will all still make it out for a great Magic tournament. And of course we will do our best to secure qualifier slots for the upcoming editions.

Hello players!

We are delighted to provide you with an update on the upcoming edition of the Dutch Open Series!

The next edition is scheduled to take place on the weekend of August 26th and 27th at the Fletcher Hotel Nieuwegein. On Saturday, August 26th, we will be hosting a Modern and Sealed event, while on Sunday, you will have the opportunity to participate in either Legacy or Pioneer. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase starting from June 30th at 20:00 hours.

Due to the rapid sell-out of the previous edition, we are doing our best to expand our capacity to 300 players per day. We sincerely hope that you will choose to join us for this exciting event.

As the current RCQ season is scheduled to run from April 22nd to August 20th, we are uncertain about the possibility of offering RC slots during the DOS. We are actively exploring various options and their implications, including the impact on the format for the Sealed event.

Furthermore, we have been relatively quiet lately because we have been diligently working towards professionalizing the Dutch Open Series. Our ongoing efforts involve establishing a foundation to oversee and support Competitive Magic events in the Netherlands.

In other noteworthy news, we are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting Magic at the Spellenspektakel in November. You and your friends can participate in a Team Limited event on Saturday, followed by a Team Constructed event on Sunday. More information about these events will be provided in the coming months.

We sincerely hope that everyone is eagerly anticipating and planning to join us for our next Dutch Open Series! We look forward to seeing you all in August.

We are looking forward to the first Dutch Open Series weekend in years! And we are looking forward to seeing you there.

Artist booth

We will have Magic artist Leon Tukker visiting us on Saturday! If you want to get some cards signed, stop by to say hello! Also remember, each participant is receiving a custom DOS playmat… You could get that signed as well!

MtgMelee

For the tournament pairings we will be using MTGMelee. To run a smooth tournament we strongly encourage you to make an MTGMelee account and share your account information if it is different from this e-mail account. This will allow you to receive seating information and submit results online! You will be pre-enrolled via your shared e-mail later this week. Please be sure to check-in on MTGMelee!

Decklists

Note that the event is competitive, which means decklists are mandatory for the Dutch Open Series constructed tournaments! Please bring a PAPER A4 sized copy of your decklist. These decklists will be collected at the start of your tournament. If you have a bye, please make sure that you have your decklist mailed to us at magic@dutchopenseries.com before the start of the tournament! We will NOT be collecting decklists via MtgMelee!

Vendors

Rudy Meijer from Goat Enterprise will have a booth at the Dutch Open Series. If you are still in need of cards, send him your request as soon as possible and collect your cards at the DOS! Please visit https://www.goatenterprise.com/ to order your cards!

On Demand Events will start from 13:00 hours and will fire when full!

Donations

In our survey many of you said they would be willing to make a donation towards offsetting some of the start up costs of the series. We will setup a donation jar at the TO station. Of course donations are completely voluntary but very much appreciated.

Hello MTG Commander fanatics!

As we announced last weekend, we’re adding two exclusive 32 player commander tournament to our first DOS weekend!

Both Saturday April 29^th and Sunday April 30^th there will be a commander tournament starting at 12:00.  Both tournaments will have four rounds followed by a winners table. This event is welcome to commander players of all different kind of experience/power levels, to encourage a good experience (we want everyone to have fun!) we’ll make sure that everyone wins awesome prizes (including an awesome DOS playmat by Leon Tukker), not just the best performing players.

There will be 60 minute round times, which should be plenty of time for everyone to finish their best-of-one commander match! We’ll follow the official Wizards banned and restricted list.

As we mentioned in our earlier announcement, if you want to join the commander event, but have already bought a ticket for one of the other tournaments, buy a commander ticket and send us an e-mail at magic@dutchopenseries.com to cancel your other ticket. We’re sure we can find someone on the waiting list to put this to good use!

We are just over a month out of the Dutch Open Series. Time for a quick update.

We have decided to keep the cap for the main event as is, to ensure a smooth tournament. So if you are currently on the wait list, unless people cancel, we apologize and hope to see you at one our next events.

Qualifier Events

You can still win a slot for one of the Open Events at one of our Qualifiers. We currently have 5 scheduled:

Commander

We have some great news for Commander players! We are excited to announce that we will be hosting two extra Commander side events during the Dutch Open Series, separate from the Open events. Each day, there will be 32 available slots. The tickets for these events will go live at 19:00 hours this Wednesday.
If you have already purchased a ticket for another event but would like to switch to the Commander event, don’t worry! Get your Commander ticket first, and afterwards send us an e-mail and we’ll refund your Open ticket. The people on the wait list will love you!

Player’s Championship

The Player’s Championship will return! The top players of the Dutch Open Series 2023 season will compete for grand prizes at the end of the season during the Dutch Open Series Player’s Championship. This end-of-year tournament will feature the best players of the 2023 season, with two more editions to come later this year.
To qualify, the easiest way is to win one of the Dutch Open Series tournaments. This will secure one of the first twelve slots for the tournament. The remaining twelve slots will be filled by players who have earned the most points during the Swiss portion of the Open series tournaments.

Next DOS

We are very happy and motivated by the great response from the community on the return of the Dutch Open Series! We are happy to announce that we are committing to three more tournaments. Rough planning is one in Q3 2023, one in Q4 2023 and the 2023 Player’s Championship combined with a DOS weekend in Q1 of 2024.
